Pelosi sounds STUPID !  It's nauseating listening to her try to talk about the working of Congress ... Just listen to this video, I wouldn't be suprised if you get nauseated.

Pelosi slams insurers as "immoral" villains

 

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is trying to unite her divided caucus around a common enemy -- the health insurance industry -- previewing an August recess line of attack by Democrats trying to maintain momentum on health care reform.

 

On Thursday, reporters pelted Pelosi with questions about a liberal Democratic insurrection against a deal cut with Blue Dog Democrats that would significantly weaken the health care public option -- and she responded with a withering attack on the insurance industry.

 

"The public option -- that's where the insurance companies are making their attacks -- it's almost immoral what they are doing, " said Pelosi, addressing reporters outside of her office a few minutes

ago.

 

"Of course, they've been immoral all along," she added. "They are the villains in this, they have been part of the problem in a major way. They are doing everything in their power to stop a public option from happening and the public has to know.. They have had a good thing going for a long time at the expense of the American people and the health of our country."

 

"This is the fight of our lives," she added.  As to claims that Democratic leadership sold out progressive, African-Americans and Hispanic reps by negotiating a side deal, she responded:

 

"Might I remind you that the progressives are represented on the committees of jurisdiction in a very

strong manner. Might I remind you that the progressives are chairmen of those committees -- progressives have been well represented."

 

A fact check: The Center for Responsive Politics reports that the health care industry spent a whopping $133 million in lobbying during the second quarter of '09. But seven of the top ten spenders were actually drug and biotech companies - which are nominally supportive of the Democrats -- spending an aggregate of $25 million.

 

Blue Cross was the only insurer to crack the top ten, shelling out about $5.2 million.

 

The American Hospitals Association, which lobbied for reimbursement rates, spent about $4 million.

 

None of these numbers, however, include the tens of millions insurers spend on campaign contributions or TV ads.
